A Year in Our Garden: 2017 in Pictures; Part 2 – April and May

Looking back makes me realise how much happens in the garden in the third and fourth month of the year. I had been planning to post pictures in quarters but there is no room for June here – that will have to come in my next post!

11 April: we arrive back from a holiday in the Black Forest to find tulips, narcissi and Muscari armeniacum still in full bloom

14 April: this English laurel and flame-coloured tree are no more; they looked lovely in Spring but cast too much shade over the herbaceous border

15 May: Mexican fleabane or Erigeron karvinskianus tumbles out of brick walls along our road and I wanted a bit of the action, so have planted some here by our front gate along with a Stachys byzantina which I am going to move this year as it has been swamped by the Erigeron
